About

Oklahoma to Chicago to Los Angeles.

My fascination with moviemaking began at the University of Oklahoma where I fell in love with the films of Les Blank and the Maysles Brothers. I logged a decade in Chicago, where I worked as Studs Terkel’s audio archivist and became a lover of unscripted, authentic storytelling. Now, I am a director/producer/editor living in Los Angeles. The first film I directed was Hal (Sundance 2018) —nominated for a Producer’s Guild Award, a Critics Choice Award, and Rolling Stone’s Top 10 Documentaries of 2018. I worked as a Creative Director for MasterClass, directing classes from RuPaul to Danny Elfman where I learned A LOT about what it means to artistically fail. I directed the documentary feature Sheryl about the life and work of iconic musician Sheryl Crow that was nominated for a Hollywood Critics Association Award (SXSW 2022, Showtime 2022). Recently, I co-directed a 2-part doc series coming out in Spring ‘24 on MTV/Paramount+, and am deep in production on a film premiering on HBO in Fall ‘24. I’m always hunting for unique and compelling stories; and I spend a lot of time jogging while listening to Captain Beefheart, Sun Ra, or Brittany Howard.
